M. S. Ryan was built in the early 1950’s, using
the most advanced architectural designs of the
time.  The school bears the name of a prominent
former member of the Laredo ISD School
Board of Trustees. Michael S. Ryan also
served his community as an elected county
official. Nestled amidst the rolling hills in the
heart of what is known as the Heights Area,
or “Las Lomas” (the hills), sits M.S. Ryan
Elementary School. Surrounded by its majestic
live oaks, well-manicured lawns, and
colorful landscaping, this neighborhood school
is well known by the community as the ideal
place for casual strolls, energizing jogs,
and other outdoor activities.
