Our CIS students had a wonderful time celebrating Children’s Day! 🎉 They enjoyed cereal, chocolate milk, fresh fruit, and lots of fun through interactive board games and activities. 🍎🥣 This special celebration gave our students a well-deserved break from the daily pressures of academics and responsibilities, creating space to support their social-emotional well-being. It was an opportunity to reconnect with the joy of childhood, build resilience, spark creativity, and strengthen their sense of belonging within our school community. 🎉 Shoutout to our amazing English Language Arts teacher, Ms. Mayela Villarreal, for creating an immersive and highly engaging learning experience for our students! 📚🕶️✨ By integrating Class Virtual Reality headsets into instruction, students were able to step into the island setting of Lord of the Flies and experience the novel in a whole new way. The LISD Athletic Office hosted the Triple A awards Ceremony at the LISD PA. The ceremony honored LISD middle and high school student-athletes. The students were recognized for having perfect attendance, straight A’s and a winning attitude. Each student was presented with either a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal for their academic achievements.

Congratulations to our amazing Cigarroa High School students who participated in the City of Laredo's 23rd Annual Poetry Contest! Two students, Ariana Araiza and Ruben Magana, were selected as winners from over 1,000 participants. Their beautiful poems will be recited by them at the Award Recognition Ceremony this Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Joe A. Guerra Laredo Public Library in the Multipurpose Room. Everyone is welcome to go and cheer them on.

LISD hosted a Military Ball for JROTC cadets from Martin, Nixon, and Cigarroa High Schools at the LISD Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center.

🌎✨ Look at the transformation! ✨🌱 Our Earth Day Beautification Project is complete, and the finished garden in front of the CHS Literacy Center looks amazing! 🌿🌸 Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Cigarroa HS and Sabas Perez Early College HS students, under the leadership of Ms. Deborah Laurel and Mr. Arturo Garcia, this space has been given new life. 💙🤍 From laying mulch and adding fresh soil to planting vibrant flowers and greenery, our students worked together to create a beautiful and welcoming space for our campus community to enjoy. 🌼🌱 Their teamwork and commitment show that when we care for our environment, we help our community grow stronger too. 🌎✨ Congratulations to our CHS/Sabas Perez ECHS students! ✨🌎 Under the leadership of our Environmental Science teacher Ms. Paloma Guel, our students helped our campus earn the “Planet Protector” Award from Keep Laredo Beautiful & Laredo ISD! 🎉👏 Through a campus beautification project, students rolled up their sleeves to collect litter from the bullring, courtyard, and surrounding areas, making a big impact on keeping our campus clean and beautiful. 💙 They also contributed by picking up tree branches and preparing the grounds in front of the CHS Literacy Center, helping create a cleaner and more inviting environment for everyone. 🌳✨ Thank you for taking action to protect our planet. you make us #ToroProud! 🤩🌎✨🐂 #KeepLaredoBeautiful
