Mrs. Madriaga's class participated in a hands-on lab activity to measure blood pressure. Students explored the importance of blood pressure, how it is measured, and the factors that affect it. They practiced using a sphygmomanometer, gaining insights into cardiovascular health and essential skills for maintaining healthy blood pressure levels. A special thanks to Mrs. Nava, our school nurse, for her assistance.

TAMIU Science Professors’ presentation in Mrs. Madriaga’s Science Classes. This collaboration with the Science professors was designed to provide students with an understanding of the expectations in the Science courses that students will be taking as seniors next year. The professors shared insights into what Science classes are like and how students can succeed in them. They emphasized the importance of time management and meeting deadlines for assignments. They also stressed the need to stay ahead of the course material, whether for lab classes or lecture-based ones. A professor also provided students with guidance on the expectations for writing laboratory reports. Building study groups and consulting with professors when encountering difficulties were also highlighted as crucial strategies for success. Additionally, students were encouraged to take advantage of the free tutoring services available to TAMIU students. The students were attentive and fully engaged in the question-and-answer portion of the presentation. This collaboration with the professors will help track students’ progress and support their success in science courses. LISD is celebrating Texas Public School Week! LISD is opening its 20 elementary and four middle schools for parents and guardians to visit on Wednesday, February 26, from 8:30 a.m., to 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Report cards will be issued at LISD elementary schools.
