Ryan Elementary was full of excitement and literary fun as students and staff came together to celebrate Read Across America Week! This annual event, which promotes a love for reading and literacy, brought out the creativity and enthusiasm of our Bobcat community through themed dress-up days, engaging classroom activities, and special guest readers.
Throughout the week, students dressed up as their favorite book characters, wore crazy socks in honor of Dr. Seuss’s Fox in Socks, and even had a day dedicated to reading with their favorite stuffed animals. Teachers designed interactive lessons around classic and contemporary children’s books, sparking meaningful discussions and imaginative storytelling.
One of the highlights of the week was welcoming special guest readers, including school staff and community members, who shared their favorite childhood books with students. The joy on our Bobcats' faces as they listened to these engaging stories was a reminder of the power that books hold in shaping young minds.
To further promote literacy, classrooms participated in buddy reading sessions, where older students paired up with younger ones to read together. This not only strengthened reading skills but also fostered mentorship and camaraderie among students.
Ryan Elementary is proud to support the mission of Read Across America by encouraging students to explore new books, expand their imaginations, and develop a lifelong love for reading. A huge thank you to our teachers, staff, and families for making this week such a success!
Remember, Bobcats—every book is a new adventure waiting to happen! Keep turning the pages and discovering the world through reading! 📚✨🐾
