At Ryan Elementary, students are not only learning the value of academics, but also the importance of giving back—and this week, their generosity made a big, messy splash.

As part of the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge, students were given the opportunity to raise funds in support of heart health awareness and research. Those who raised $25 or more earned a unique and unforgettable reward: the chance to slime their coaches.

In an event filled with excitement, cheers, and a whole lot of green goo, students lined up with anticipation as their coaches bravely took their places. With every cup of slime poured, the crowd erupted with laughter and applause—not just for the fun of it, but for the incredible purpose behind it. The sight of students joyfully celebrating their fundraising success while their coaches stood proudly covered in slime served as a powerful reminder that giving back can be both meaningful and memorable.

The Kids Heart Challenge encourages students to develop healthy habits while raising money to help children with heart conditions and support life-saving research. Ryan Elementary’s participation in this nationwide initiative reflects the school’s commitment to building character, compassion, and community spirit among its students.

What made this event even more special was the overwhelming response from the Ryan community. Parents, teachers, and staff came together to support the cause and cheer on the students. The excitement in the air was contagious, and it was clear that the students felt proud of what they had accomplished—not just because they got to slime their coaches, but because they knew they were helping others in the process.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible coaches for being such good sports and to every student who participated and raised funds. Your generosity and school spirit have shown us all what it means to come together for a great cause.

At Ryan Elementary, we believe in teaching our students to lead with kindness, take action, and make a difference—and this event was a perfect example of those values in action. Way to go, Bobcats!
