Our 5th graders in Mrs. Torres’ class spent yesterday’s science lab getting hands-on with fundamental physics!
Students explored the invisible force of gravity by measuring pull using spring scales. Working in small lab teams, they practiced:
Calibrating tools to measure force in Newtons
📊 Recording and organizing quantitative lab data
💡 Comparing how mass directly affects gravitational pull
Watching their "aha!" moments as the scales stretched was the highlight of the lesson! Hands-on discovery is in full force in 5th grade. 🔬✨

Today the Texas Education Agency officially announced that Laredo ISD has earned two A’s. The annual ratings show that LISD earned an A in Academic Accountability with a district score of 90. Overall campus ratings for LISD’s 28 schools include 18 A’s and 10 B’s. No LISD campus earned a C or D. LISD also earned an A in finance through their Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) rating.
